sensitive content warning: The book and movie candidly display and talk about topics that are relatable to girls aged 10–14 years old, and is an honest portrayal of growing up. Both mediums include explicit discussions about menstruation, breast development, peer pressure and religious identity, which may prompt questions and discussions about personal beliefs and body changes.
